Hobble Dress: Vase by MorganDonner Hobble Dress: Vase by MorganDonner
This dress was created for a 3-D art class. Students were required to do a project with 'Vessel' as the theme. I chose to turn the human form into a vase. The flowers at the top are the flowers you would put a vase!

This is my second corset. The boning is heavy duty zipties, they go all the way from the top of the dress to the knees. Looking at it now, I wish I had put some interfacing, or perhaps corded the hem, so that it would stick out nicely, instead of draping in the way it did.

Consider checking out my Flickr, where I have more costumes: [link]

This is really great work.
when it comes to the draping towards the floor, I'd say forget about running. Such a stunning lady should not run or just be carried when in a hurry ;o)
So: just a few extra inches for the high heeled shoes and go straight down to just above the floor from the knees without flaring outward...
would be my personal deviant choice

Lovely dress and I find it interesting that you used zipties for the boning.
I did check your Flickr feed. Is it safe to assume you are SCAdian?

Oh industrial strength zip ties, the best 'I can't afford steel' boning!  Yep, I mostly craft for SCA, though obviously this was a quite unrelated college project.

Beautifully done, sexy, glamorous, clever and witty. I can imagine some daring modern star wearing it on the red carpet at an awards show. One question: could you sit down in it?

That is amazing, I really really want that. I would add black to mine though. I love how this gown scrapes the floor.

I'd also be interested in making one, too! I've been looking for a good dress idea for a costume, and this would fit what I need very nicely.

Nope, just these ones. I had to throw it away a while back because it had a bunch of stains from spilled stuff. I would take more if I could :(
